Tailored Camp Solutions to Meet Custom Needs.
The required concrete slab depth for a mobile home or container-based structure depends on whether the installation is temporary or permanent, as well as local soil and climate conditions. At WELLCAMP, foundation recommendations are designed to ensure structural stability, durability, and long-term safety across different application scenarios.
For temporary installations such as construction camps or short-term accommodation, concrete piers are generally sufficient. This type of foundation provides basic load support while allowing faster installation and easier removal or relocation when needed.
For permanent residential applications, a reinforced concrete slab foundation is typically required. The slab thickness is usually between 100 mm and 150 mm (approximately 4 to 6 inches), while the edges are thickened to more than 300 mm to improve load-bearing capacity and structural stability. This system is often combined with properly compacted soil, a 100 mm to 150 mm gravel base for drainage, and a vapor barrier layer to reduce moisture penetration. Together, these elements enhance foundation strength, drainage performance, and moisture resistance.
In cold climate regions such as northern North America or southern Chile, additional attention must be given to frost protection. The foundation must be constructed below the local frost line to prevent frost heave. If this requirement is not met, freeze-thaw cycles may cause cracking of the concrete slab and lead to structural deformation or tilting of the building over time.
